Before launching the product, you need to properly configure your computer. Follow these steps carefully to ensure everything works correctly.
Important Step to Avoid BSOD: You must install the DirectX Web Kit before using this product!

Download DirectX Web Kit

Required to prevent Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors.
Make sure to have the same installation path as shown in our screenshot:

This guide applies to both Lite and Full versions of the Apex Legends product.

System Requirements

Turn Off Windows Defender

Turn off Windows Defender including real-time protection.
Remember to re-enable Windows Defender after you’re done using the product for your system’s security.

Install Required Libraries

Ensure you have Visual C++ Libraries and DirectX installed:
If you already have these installed, you can skip this step. Most modern games install these automatically.

Remove Third-Party Antivirus Software

Third-party antivirus programs often flag legitimate tools as threats due to their behavior.Commonly conflicting antivirus software:
  • Norton
  • McAfee
  • Kaspersky
  • Avast
  • AVG
  • Bitdefender
You can reinstall your antivirus software after you’re done. Make sure to completely uninstall it - simply disabling may not be enough.

Set Default Browser

Recommended browser as default in your system: Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome
This helps ensure compatibility with the product.

Apex Legends-Specific Notes

The Lite version has fewer features but is generally easier to set up. Follow the standard preparation steps above.

Verification Checklist

Before proceeding to the next step, verify the following:
Open Windows Security and confirm that Real-time protection is disabled.
Confirm DirectX Web Kit is installed in the correct path as shown in the screenshot above.
Check Programs and Features in Control Panel to verify Visual C++ and DirectX are installed.
Ensure no third-party antivirus is running in the background. Check your system tray for any antivirus icons.
Verify Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome is set as your default browser.
Once all steps are completed, proceed to Launching the Product.
